Stonecraft released their much anticipated third album Behind the Door on March 1st. The album comprises ten tracks; two instrumentals and eight songs, seven of which are original compositions and one traditional Welsh folksong.
The album has a folk rock feel and the duo continue to develop their own distinctive acoustic sound created by vocal harmonies combined with the use of Celtic instruments such as the cittern and the bouzouki.
Stonecraft are a musical collaboration between multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Andy Morgan and guitarist and singer/ songwriter Viil Hov Fjose. The duo have developed their own unique style, writing and performing original songs and instrumentals.
The sound has been influenced by a wide variety of genres, Andy starting out as rock guitarist who developed a love for traditional Welsh and Celtic music. Viil has a more classical background with roots in the traditional music of Norway.
Behind the door is Stronecraft’s third album having released The Call in 2008 and Moving Tides in 2010. Acoustic Magazine wrote of The Call: A fine debut which shows much promise.
The duo established their sound on the local circuit in South Wales before embarking on a period of personal and musical development in 2010 when they travelled throughout France and Spain.
They are currently located in Saint Malo, France where they have played extensively in the area including the Mardi Zicos festival in Saint Malo and the Route D’Cidre in Dinan. Stonecraft also played the Middelalderuka in Nummedal, Norway last summer.
